Charles River, Mass. - The men's rowing varsity eight placed 30th of 38 crews in the 45th Head of the Charles Sunday afternoon in a rainy, frigid day on the Charles River. The crew, coxed by Thomas Quinn covered the 5k course in 17:10.258.
The Greyhounds defeated rivals Dayton, Holy Cross and Boston College in the race despite competing with a lineup featuring four first-year rowers.
Head coach Al Ramirez got what he expected with the result and the men were `pretty pleased' with their finish. Also encouraging was that the men are eager to get more work in smaller boats in the coming weeks before winter training and the spring season.
Up next for men's and women's rowing is the Head of the Schuylkill in Philadelphia, Pa. This will be the second time the Greyhounds will compete on the Schuylkill, as it was the site of the Navy Day Regatta earlier this month.
