PHILADELPHIA - The Loyola University Maryland men’s and women’s crew teams opened the 2015 fall season Saturday morning at the Navy Day Regatta hosted by the United States Naval Academy and Saint Joseph’s University.
The men’s varsity four boat (Joseph Yacobucci, David Dukenik, Ryan Scott, Ryan Brown and coxswain Rachel Yuhas) kicked off the fall season, taking eighth in 15:11.28.
The men’s lightweight four highlighted the day’s events for Loyola. Cox Patrick Flynn, Liam Marmo, John Dougherty, Patrick Bohen and Robert Moore took second in the 4k race with a time of 14:51.24.
Later in the afternoon, Marmo, Dougherty, Yacobucci, Dukenik, Scott, Brown, Bohen, Moore and Flynn took 23rd in the varsity eight race. The Greyhounds came across the finish line in 14:09.05.
On the women’s side, Keenan Gibbons, Lillian Lane, Natasha Murray, Eleni Papadatos and cox Serena Rivera took 12th in the women’s varsity four, recording a time of 17:06.89.
Loyola returns to action Saturday, Oct. 17, at the Head of the Charles in Boston, Massachusetts.
