Rowing Ends Season At Dad Vail Regatta

PHILADELPHIA - Loyola University Maryland rowing teams ended the season at the Dad Vail Regatta on the Schuylkill River.

The men's varsity four (Joe Wawrzynski, Craig Spicer, Walter Horan, Bryan Carney, and cox Patrick Flynn) recorded its best finish of the season, maintaining the fastest 500m split time through the grueling third 500m. The crew finished fourth, as the final 350 meters were neck-and-neck to the finish line as Loyola and Lehigh came in less than one second apart.  Chris Carpenter, Craig MacAdams, Jimmy McCarron, and Mike Skopelitis rounded out the men's lightweight four race, and finished fourth with a time of 7:27.20. 

The women's varsity four of Andrea Almeida, Eleni Papadatos, Kathleen Sweeney, Kimberly Seckler, and cox Lindsay Superczynski, also finished fourth, feeling strong and powerful throughout the race. Strong winds and competitive crews in Drake, Cincinnati, Ohio University, and Jacksonville, all proved to be strong competition. The women finished above Jacksonville, crossing the finish line at 7:46.50. To round out the final race

In the pairs Juan Cadavid and Michael Blume came in fourth in their heat, while the women's pair finished fifth with a time of 8:37.51.
