WEST WINDSOR, N.J. - The Loyola College men's and women's crew teams finished in second place at the 2006 Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Championships at Lake Mercer on Sunday afternoon.
Marist College swept the team titles as the Red Fox men's team scored 243 points while the women's team tallied 192 points. The Greyhounds finished with 220 points on the men's side, while the women's squad recorded 140 points.
The Greyhounds took first place in the women's novice 8 by recording a time of 7:24.8, over five seconds ahead of Fairfield. In addition, the women's JV4+ squad turned in a winning mark of 7:53.7, beating the Red Foxes by over eight seconds while Fairfield finished in a distant third place.
The men's team earned a victory in the close novice 4 race with a time of 6:56.92, beating Marist by less than a second. Loyola recorded second place finishes in eight other events, while Marist took first place in all nine of the other events to seal the victory.
The Greyhounds continue their season in two weeks at the Mid-Atlantic Championships.
