Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's crew teams were led by their Varsity 8s at the Johns Hopkins Invitational on Saturday. The men's boat won its race, posting a time of 5:40.55 while the women placed second in the final heat with a race time of 6:36.94.
The Greyhounds also earned a first-place finish in the men's Varsity Pair, edging out host Hopkins by six-hundreds of a second. Loyola crossed the finish line in 7:12.08, besting a Blue Jay boat that crossed in 7:12.14. Also on the men's side, both the Lightweight 4 and Novice 4 took second in their respective races - the Lightweight 4 falling to Maryland and the Novice 4 falling to Rutgers.
On the women's side, Loyola won the Novice 8 and placed second in the Varsity 4 as well as the Varsity 8. The Greyhounds split their Varsity 4 boat and placed second and third in the final.
The men and women will compete at the MAAC Championships this Sunday.
