Four Crews Compete In Finals At Kerr Cup Competition

PHILADELPHIA - The men’s pair, lightweight four, women’s pair and novice four all qualified for the finals in their respective races, guiding the Loyola University Maryland rowing teams to a strong performance at the Kerr Cup.

The men’s pair of Juan Cadavid and Michael Blume tied for the best finish on the day, taking second in the first heat less than 10 seconds behind first-place Lafayette College. In the finals, the duo took sixth with a race time of 7:37.97.

Walter Horan, Robert MooreTheodore Fortier and Craig MacAdams placed second in the men’s lightweight four race, crossing the finish line in 6:33.03.

The pair of Eleni Papadatos and Kelly Gregitis placed third in their first round heat, finishing with a time of 7:39.53.  The duo advanced to the finals, where they took fifth in 8:36.56.

Both the men’s novice four and women’s varsity four just missed out on qualifying for the finals, coming in fourth in 7:18.87 and 7:39.85, respectively. 

The women’s varsity eight made up a lot of ground in the competition, continuing to improve as the as the season progresses. The crew finished fourth on Saturday with a time of 6:59. 94.

The Greyhounds return to action on Friday, May 9, traveling back to the Schuylkill River for the Dad Vail Championships.
