Rowing Competes In Final Day Of Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR TOWNSHIP, N.J. - The Loyola University Maryland rowing teams put together a strong finish on the final day of the Knecht Cup, including three top-three finishes in finals races on Mercer Lake.

Coxswain Serena Rivera, stroke Lauren Howe, Sarah Doyle, Natasha Murray, Emily Mansour, Kristin Wawrzynski, Allison Langley, Keenan Gibbons and Nona Sharp took second in the third final of the women's novice eight, crossing the finish line in 7:43.97, ahead of High Point, Marist, Penn State, Patriot League-foe Holy Cross and Buffalo.

Earlier in the afternoon, Loyola's women's novice four (Howe, Murray, Doyle, Langley and cox Rivera) placed third in the petite final race, recording an official race time of 8:23.26.

On the men's side, Loyola's novice eight crew of Victor Santiago, Joseph Yacobucci, Ryan Brown, David Dukenik, Ryan Scott, Austin Drexel, David Bjorklund, Liam Marmo and coxswain Rachel Yuhas came in just behind Boston College with a time of 6:44.10. The Greyhounds finished second in the third final race, out racing teams from Pittsburgh, Marist, Army, Marietta and the Boston College "B" boat.

Following a solid performance on Saturday afternoon, Robert Moore and Craig Spicer opened the day's events taking fifth in the men's pair grand final with a time of 7:47.67.

Loyola returns to action on Saturday, traveling to the Schuylkill River to compete in the Kerr Cup.
