Crew Sees Positive Results At Murphy Cup

PHILADELPHIA - The Loyola University Maryland women's pair and men's varsity four boats both picked up bronze medals in a successful day for the Greyhounds on the Schuylkill River at the Murphy Cup.

The men's varsity four won of Christopher Golon, Josh Tarini, Ryan Walsh, Jordan Master and coxswain Thomas Quinn won its heat with a time of 6:43.17 and later went on to finish third overall with a final time of 6:58.81.

On the women's side, Olivia Duckworth and Kimberly Chambers took bronze medal honors in the women's pair, recording a time of 8:38.64 in the final.

The women's varsity eight boat of Andrea Hartman, Sarah La Barth, Kimberly Winiarczyk, Margaret Ajello, Erin Mulhern, Alexandra Brozyna, Catorina Miller, Julianne Roccuzzo and coxswain Katherine Griffin had a solid race, clocking a time of 6:52.85 in its heat, but the Greyhounds narrowly missed the event final.

Sean Baker and Tom Kelly had a strong race in the men's varsity pairs race before being pushed off course by another competitor. The Greyhounds finished in fifth place with a time of 8:01.74.

Loyola is back in competition next weekend when it travels to Fairfax, Va., for the Occoquan Sprints on Sunday.
