BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Alex Saffadi finished 126th overall in the Men’s Brown 8k at the Paul Short Run, recording the best overall finish by a Loyola University Maryland cross country runner Saturday at the event.
Saffadi covered the eight-kilometer course in 26:03. Overall, the men’s team placed 42nd in the event.
Tom Porth and Brad Beard came through within seven seconds of each other, finishing 226th and 239th in 26:57 and 27:04, respectively. Sam Williams clocked a time of 27:42 to place 276th, and Alex Buchholz was one spot, and a single second, behind to round out Loyola’s scoring.
Zachary Nerenberg and Colin Chandler also competed for the Greyhounds, coming in 296th and 308th in 28:23 and 28:53.
Loyola took 45th in the Women’s Gold race led by a Kayleigh Caggiano’s performance for the second week in a row. The freshman turned in a six-kilometer time of 22:18, finishing 210 overall.
Cordelia McGinn and Sarah Askine were not far behind, placing 231st and 252nd in 22:27 and 22:40. Megan Crilly was 13 spots back of Askine, crossing the finish line in 22:47.
Audrey O’Neill was the Greyhounds final scorer in 307th with a time of 23:33. Mary Sutton and Courtney Wallace also competed for Loyola, placing 309th and 311th in 23:41 and 23:43.
Loyola will take two weeks off before returning to competition on Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Princeton Invitational.
