One At Home, One On The Road

  • Loyola University Maryland volleyball returns plays a pair of Patriot League contests this weekend, starting with the final match of a three-game homestand before embarking on a three-game swing away from Reitz Arena.
  • The Greyhounds host League-leading American University on Friday, Oct. 14, at 7 p.m. They then make the quick trip down Interstate 97 to face the U.S. Naval Academy on Saturday, Oct. 16, at 4 p.m.

A Look Back

  • Loyola played two home matches against conference opponents last weekend, falling in both. The Greyhounds split the first two sets with Bucknell University before the Bison won the third, 26-24, garnering the needed momentum to win in four. Colgate University controlled the first two sets against Loyola on Sunday afternoon before winning a tightly contested third.

Kazalas On The Right

  • Stacey Kazalas has settled into her role on the right side of Loyola’s offense, posting some of her best offensive numbers in the past few matches. She had nine kills with just two errors on Oct. 1 at the U.S. Military Academy, followed by a 11-kill, three-error effort on Oct. 8 against Bucknell.
  • Overall this season, Kazalas is fourth on the team with 1.61 kills per set and 95 total kills. She also is tops on the team amongst Loyola’s outside hitters and opposites in blocking, averaging 0.44 per set.

Freshmen In The Rankings

  • Freshman Ann Ernst continues to lead the Greyhounds’ offensive output this season, averaging 3.69 kills per set. She has posted double-digit kills in 12 of Loyola’s 17 matches this season and has four outings with 20 or more. Her kills per game total ranks third in the Patriot League.
  • Fellow first-year player Erin Cunningham is also listed in the Patriot League rankings, checking in at 3.90 digs per set, tops on the team.
