Golfers Tied For 11th After Opening Round Of Kingsmill Intercollegiate

WILLIAMSBURG, Va. - The Loyola University Maryland golf team is tied with Eastern Kentucky for 11th place following the first round of the Kingsmill Intercollegiate at the Kingsmill Resort Sunday.


Three Greyhounds – senior Will Wears, junior Brendan Peel and sophomore Erick Alonso – finished tied for 36th, as they all shot a 5-over 75 today. Senior Connor Flach is tied for 83rd after turning in a 9-over 79 today and freshman Preston Ball is one stroke back, and tied for 89th, with a 10-over 80.


As a team, Loyola finished at 24-over.


Louisville is atop the team leaderboard with an even 280, while Penn State (+3, 283) and Tennesee (+6, 286) are second and third, respectively.


Individually, Louisville’s Nicolas Platret and Keegan de Lange are tied for first with 2-under 68s.


The Greyhounds will return to the course Monday morning for the second of three rounds.
