Following the first two rounds of the Alister MacKenzie Invitational at Meadow Club, the Loyola University Maryland golf team is in 14th place.
Senior Ethan Wall is the lone Greyhound under par, as he tied for the third-best second round, shooting a 6-under 6 on his second trip through the course. He started the day by carding a 2-over 73 and enters tomorrow’s third round tied for 23rd with a 4-under 138.
Junior Bennett Wisner also improved upon his first round score, shaving off one stroke, as he shot a 2-over 73 and a 1-over 72, respectively. He’s currently tied for 64th with a 3-over 145.
Senior Connor Flach started the day strong, turning in a 2-under 69, before shooting a 6-over 77 to enter the final round in a tie for 67th. He has a two-round score of 4-over 146.
Junior Brendan Peel is fourth for Loyola, shooting 5-over 76 and 1-over 72 to sit tied for 72nd at 6-over 148, while classmate Jeremy Wall is one stroke back, and tied for 76th overall. Wall shot 6-over 77 and 1-over 72 through the two rounds for an aggregate score of 7-over 149.
As a team, the Greyhounds are 14th at 4-over 572. Pepperdine and St. Mary’s (Calif.) lead the teams with matching 24-under 544s, while Arizona State and Oregon State are tied for third at 20-under 548.
Individually, Arizona State’s Ki Taek Lee is first at 12-under 130. He’s closely followed by Pepperdine’s Sahith Theegala at 11-under 131. Conner Kumpula (Oregon State), Nahum Mendoza III (San Diego State) and Patrick Fishburn (Brigham Young) are all tied for third at 10-under 132.
Loyola will return to the course on Tuesday for the final round of play.
