Baltimore, Md. - Loyola College leads the latest Commissioner Cup standings after strong showing at the 2004 Swimming and Diving Championships. The Commissioner's Cup, awarded annually as a symbol of overall excellence in athletics in the MAAC's 25 championship, released its standings today, after the completion of 10 conference championships this season.

The Greyhounds, after a very strong fall, opened the winter championships with third-place showing in both men's and women's swimming. Loyola captured the regular-season soccer titles on both the men's and women's side. The women advanced to the NCAA tournament and garnered 16 cup points for the 'Hounds.

Loyola also won its first cross country championship to pick up 11 points and get the fall off to a good start. Marist is currently in second with Iona, Manhattan and Rider rounding out the current Top-5.

The MAAC Commissioner's Cup is scored in all championships that it fields a varsity team. However, only the scores from the men's and women's basketball participation, plus the other top six men's and other top six women's championships shall be used to determine an institution's total points. Loyola has 64 points thus far in 2003-04.
