Baltimore, Md. - Eric Rhew has been named Media Coordinator at Loyola College in Maryland, joining the Office of Athletic Communications. Rhew, a 2005 Towson graduate, comes to Evergreen after one year as Director of Media Services at Major League Lacrosse.
"I couldn't be more excited to be at Loyola," says Rhew. "This is a great opportunity for me to be involved with a great staff at a great college. I'm looking forward to being a part of a great year."
After serving as media liaison between Major League Lacrosse, its teams and media, Rhew steps into a role at Loyola where he will be asked to serve as primary media contact for Olympic Sports as well as serving as the radio broadcasting voice for women's basketball and lacrosse.
While at Towson, Rhew accumulated a wealth of on-the-job experience in the Tigers' Office of Athletic Media Relations, working five years and assisting with sports such as men's and women's soccer, football, men's and women's swimming and diving, men's and women's basketball and volleyball.
Rhew also worked for Baltimore's WMAR-TV ABC 2, assisting the station's chyron operator during lacrosse and basketball broadcasts as well as serving as official statistician for several ABC 2 broadcasts. He also worked as a statistician for WQSR-FM during its Ravens' broadcasts and spent three seasons as the Baltimore Bayhawks (MLL) Director of Public Relations.
"I think that my experience at Towson and working in Major League Lacrosse has prepared me for this job," says Rhew. "I wouldn't be in the position that I am in now if it wasn't for those organizations."
Rhew was the 2001-02 Towson University Student Employee of the Year and a finalist for the honor in 2002-03. Prior to his full-time employment at Loyola, he assisted with statistics and public address at several Greyhound basketball and lacrosse games.
