Wnek To Join NCAA Men's Soccer Committee

Aug. 9, 2013

INDIANAPOLIS - Bill Wnek, an associate director of athletics at Loyola University Maryland, has been appointed to serve an interim term on the NCAA Men's Soccer Committee, a group of which he was a member from 2010-2012.

Wnek will fill the term of a retiring administrator, Richard Regan of fellow Patriot League school College of the Holy Cross.

The national committee represents the membership and performs several duties, including the selection of teams to the NCAA College Cup, administration of the championships and other issues regarding the sport.

Wnek was a member of the committee prior to Loyola's conference affiliation change, and he was the group's chair for the first part of the 2012 season.

The graduate of Loyola was promoted to Associate Athletic Director at Loyola in January 2012. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance since 2004, after spending nine seasons as an assistant soccer coach at the school.

He was a soccer and tennis standout for the Greyhounds, and his name still rates on the school's all-time goals and points scored charts. He is 14th in career goals (34) and 16th in points (82).
