BALTIMORE - Loyola University Maryland has named Kristen Gillis as Compliance Coordinator. She will assist Assistant Director of Athletics for Compliance Bill Wnek in the various tasks associated with maintaining compliance for Loyola teams under NCAA, conference and university guidelines.
Gillis will also work with the Loyola Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), a council of which she was a member as an undergraduate at College of William & Mary in Williamsburg, Va.
Gillis, a former field hockey student-athlete at William & Mary, spent the last two years at James Madison University in Harrisonburg, Va., was a graduate assistant in the Dukes' compliance office.
At James Madison, Gillis worked with Dukes' coaches and staff on their official visit program, handled prospective transfers and verified that sports complied with NCAA regulations with regards to recruiting, practice, summer camps and correspondence to student-athletes.
Gillis was a goalkeeper for the William & Mary field hockey team as an undergraduate and later worked as a sports marketing and special events intern in the Tribe athletic department.
A native of Clifton, Va., Gillis received her bachelor of arts in kinesiology from William & Mary and her master of science in kinesiology at James Madison.
