Frank Cashen '45, Former Orioles & Mets GM, 1925-2014

Frank Cashen, a 1945 Loyola College graduate and former second baseman for the Greyhounds, passed away on Monday, June 30. The former Baltimore Orioles and New York Mets general manager was 88.

A native Baltimorean, Cashen became the Orioles' general manager in 1966 and helped develop a team that went to four World Series (1966, 1969, 1970, 1971), winning in '66 and '70. He moved on to head the Mets' baseball operations in 1980, capping his career in Queens with the 1986 World Series title.
