Feb. 17, 2012

INDIANAPOLIS - Loyola University Maryland Assistant Vice President & Director of Athletics Jim Paquette has been named to the NCAA Division I Men's Golf Committee, effective in September 2012.

Paquette, who has been at Loyola since April 2010, serves currently as the chair of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference Golf Committee.

"It is an honor to be selected by the NCAA to serve on the men's golf committee," Paquette said. "We have a rich golf tradition here at Loyola, and I look forward to representing the school and the conference."

The national committee represents the membership and performs several duties, including the selection of teams to the NCAA Championships, administration of the championships and other issues regarding the sport.

Loyola's golf team has been the most successful in the MAAC, winning four-straight conference titles and 13 total since joining the league in 1989-1990.

Paquette is one of three from Loyola currently serving on NCAA sport committees. Associate Athletic Director Bill Wnek is a member of the men's soccer committee, while Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Charley Toomey serves on his sport's board. Last summer, Associate Athletic Director Teddi Burns completed her tenure as chair of the NCAA women's lacrosse committee.
