BATON ROUGE, La. – Loyola University Maryland senior Connor Flach became the first Greyhound golfer to finish in the top 25 of an NCAA Regional Championship Wednesday, as he carded an even 72 through today’s final round to improve 17 spots and finish tied for 24th overall at 8-over 224.
As a team, the Greyhounds combined for a 66-over 930 (322-296-312) through the three rounds at The University Club, Louisiana State University’s home course, to finish 13th at the NCAA Baton Rouge Regional.
Sophomore Erick Alonso was second for the Greyhounds, and tied for 46th overall, at 13-over 229. Alonso recorded a 5-over 77 today.
Juniors Brendan Peel and Bennett Wisner finished one stroke apart, with Peel taking 62nd at 22-over 238 after carding an 82 through the final round. Wisner shot an 82 today and finished tied for 63rd at 23-over 239.
Senior Will Wears rounded out the Greyhounds competing, finishing 72nd with a 38-over 254.
Flach, a two-time Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Wears concluded their careers after today. The duo helped Loyola win three Patriot League Championships and advance to three NCAA Regional Championships in four years.
