INDIANAPOLIS - Loyola University Maryland Associate Athletic Director Bill Wnek has been selected to serve as the Chair of the NCAA Division I Men's Soccer Committee for the 2012 season, the governing body for national collegiate athletics announced.
In addition, Wnek was also appointed as a member of the NCAA Division I Awards, Benefits, Expenses and Financial Aid Cabinet. His term of service on the committee will begin July 1, 2012, and will continue through July 1, 2016.
A standout student-athlete at Loyola before moving into the coaching and athletic administration ranks, Wnek was made Chair of the men’s soccer committee after serving the past two years as a committee member.
The national committee represents the membership and performs several duties, including the selection of teams to the NCAA College Cup, administration of the championships and other issues regarding the sport.
Wnek was promoted to Associate Athletic Director at Loyola in January. Prior to that, he served as Assistant Athletic Director for Compliance since 2004, after spending nine seasons as an assistant soccer coach at the school.
