Diane Geppi-Aikens Field
Located in the heart of the Evergreen Campus, Diane Geppi-Aikens Field is adjacent to the DeChiaro College Center, which houses the Athletic Department offices, as well as Reitz Arena. Diane Geppi-Aikens Field has a capacity of 5,000, and including standing room, has been known to hold more than 6,000 spectators. Completed in 1979, it has one of the world's largest artificial playing surfaces, and a recent makover gave it a surface that rivals the surfaces many National Football League teams compete on.
Reitz Arena
Reitz Arena, home of Loyola's basketball and volleyball teams, holds 2.100 spectators. The arena, which had its main floor resurfaced and repainted recently, accommodates three regulation-size basketball courts or three volleyball courts. Like Diane Geppi-Aikens Field, Reitz hosts many special events each year. Musical groups such as 10,000 Maniacs, Midnight Oil, Live, Gin Blossoms, 311 and Roots have performed there in recent years.
Fitness and Aquatic Center
Loyola's state-of-the-art Fitness and Aquatic Center was completed in the fall of 2000. The FAC's signature natatorium, the Mangione Aquatic Center, is bathed in sunshine from skylights that span the ceiling several stories above the pool's surface. The pool stretches eight lanes across its 25-yard length and 75-foot width. Movalbe bulkheads seperate the diving area from the swimming area. Seats for 500 spectators bank upward from the pool deck, which is also home to a whilpool and saunas. Other FAC highlights include a 30-foot indoor climbing wall, a 6,000-square foot fitness center with more than 70 pieces of fitness machinery, an elevated indoor track, four racquetball and two squash courts, two areobic/martial arts studios, a three-court gymnasium and a multi-activity court with rounded corners and plexi-glass walls for indoor soccer and floor hockey.
