Men's Soccer McVea Tabbed a Preseason All-American

College Soccer News released its 2009 preseason All-America Teams on Friday, and Loyola defender Tennant McVea earned a spot on the second team. Last season McVea became the first Loyola player in 15 seasons to be named a first team All-American. Loyola, ranked 15th in a preseason poll, opens up the season against Villanova on September 1. Golfers Announce 2009 Fall Schedule

Loyola Head Golf Coach Tom Beidleman released his team's fall schedule for the 2009-10 season on Monday. The Greyhounds, in search of the third straight MAAC Championship, will play five tournaments in the fall. The team begins play in mid-September at the Manor Intercollegiate. Loyola Hosts Third-Annual Strength & Conditioning/Athletic Development Conference

Former Track Coach Culley Takes Fourth At USATF Championship

07/06/2009 - Former Loyola track coach Julie Culley, who headed the program from 2004-06, finished in fourth place last week at the USATF Track and Field Championship in the 5,000 meter race in Eugene, Oregon. Culley is hoping to land a spot on the USA Team for the IAAF World Championships in August, held in Berlin, Germany.

Former Greyhound Kocic Lifts United To Semis Of U.S. Open Cup

07/08/2009 - Former Loyola men's soccer standout Milos Kocic helped D.C. United to a 2-1 victory over the Harrisburg City Islanders Tuesday at the Maryland SoccerPlex. The goalkeeper made two saves in the win for United, which now advances to the semifinals of the tournament.

Two Loyola Coaches, One Alum Named To FIL All-World Team

06/29/2009 - A notable three players with Loyola College connections-Head Coach Jen Adams, alum Stacey Morlang' 02 and Assistant Coach Dana Dobbie-were named to the 2009 FIL All-World team over the weekend as the women's lacrosse World Cup officially drew to a conclusion Saturday. In the gold medal final, USA defeated Australia, 8-7.

Men's Soccer Named 15th in College Soccer News Preseason Poll

06/29/2009 - The Loyola College men's soccer team was named No. 15 on Monday in the College Soccer News 2009 preseason rankings. The Greyhounds, who have won 37 games over the past two seasons, open the 2009 season against Big East member Villanova on Tuesday, September 1.

Men's Lacrosse Cottrell, Cullinane Earn ECAC Academic Honor

06/23/2009 - A pair of men's lacrosse players, rising senior Kyle Cottrell, shown on the left, and graduate student Brian Cullinane were named to the All-ECAC Academic Team today, the league office announced. Both student-athletes have a 3.68 GPA while also playing a key role in Loyola's 9-5 record in 2009.

Loyola Track and Field Announces Incoming Freshman Class

06/22/2009 - Loyola College Track and Field Head Coach Jaclyn Truncellito announced today the addition of 17 student-athletes who will join the program in the fall of 2009. Truncellito said the class is tremendously well-rounded and brings great promise to the Evergreen campus.

Men's Golfer Jay Mulieri Wins Maryland State Amateur

06/10/2009 - Loyola golfer Jay Mulieri, a rising sophomore, won the 88th annual Maryland State Amateur Golf Championship on Wednesday morning with a 2-up victory at the Chevy Chase Club. With his brother Mike's win in the event last year, the pair become the first brothers ever to win the tournament in back-to-back years.

Filippelli, Gardner Advance In U.S. Team Tryouts
